1 Month at the University of Pennsylvania Update + Important Announcement!!

In light of the current college application season, I will be editing college essays for free (no strings attached!). If you want me to edit your essays, please let me know in the comment section below, and I'll reach out to you as to where to send your essays. Do not use the 'Contact' tab on the home page to contact me because it is currently not working. Like I said before, the best way to contact me is by commenting on this post.

I am a current freshman at the University of Pennsylvania (completely done with my college applications), and all essays will be deleted from my device after I finish editing them. Therefore, you do not need to worry about whether or not your essays will be plagiarized or used without your consent. I sincerely want to help you as much as I possibly could as you work on your college applications.

All the best!

-Kristine

Wow! I can't believe it has already been one month since I started classes at college. Despite the fact that I'm at home, interacting with my teachers and classmates behind a computer, I've been holding up pretty well. I know some of you have questions about my current experience in college, and I'm here to answer them for you.

What classes are you taking?

This semester, my classes only consist of general education requirements and premed requirements. Next semester, or next fall, I plan to start my major requirements. At Penn, freshmen at the College of Arts and Sciences (one of Penn's four undergraduate schools) are required to take a maximum of 4.5 credits for this fall semester. So currently, I am taking a Calculus I class, a Medieval English class, an Elementary Korean I class, and a General Chemistry I (+ lab). Each class is 1 credit, while the lab is 0.5 credits.

How am I really doing right now?

I'm actually doing really well. A few days ago, I got my first chemistry test results and actually scored within the top percentile of my class! God is good!

Where is the direction of this blog going?

I honestly don't know, but I do plan on updating you on my experiences at Penn. And since it is college application season for current high school students, I plan on posting general and financial aid application advice, so stay tuned! If you have any specific topic concerning UPenn or applying to college in general, please let me know.

Until then, hope you all have a great day or night!

-Kristine

Cesarean Section

Important notice: To those of you who read my posts faithfully, I have something to tell you. If you notice, I publish my posts every four to five days. But as school is approaching, and as my schedule gets tighter I decided that I will write my posts once a week instead of every four to five days. After this post, I will start writing on Fridays.  I'm also curious as to which type of posts you enjoy reading the most on my blog. I want to know which type of posts I should be writing more of. Therefore, I made a poll.  Please check out the link to the poll below and vote. ↓↓↓↓ Link to poll:  http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=598cac60e4b0fa6088cce9a1 ________________________________________________ Today's post is on  another surgery. Acute Subdural Hematoma Surgery

source Welcome back to my blog! For today's post, I decided to do something a little different. I want to put up a Youtube video of a brain surgery that I enjoyed watching. The patient is an 83 year old woman who fell down and injured her head.  This injury had given her acute subdural hematoma. Acute subdural hematoma (SDH), is usually caused by a head injury from a fall, an assault or a motor vehicle collision. SDH is a clot of blood that is formed between the dura mater (the brain's tough outer covering) and the brain. This blood clot is formed due to the stretching and tearing of veins on the brain's surface. These veins rupture when a head injury shakes and jolts the brain.  This surgery is done by a brain surgeon who will cut open the patient's head and remove the blood clot.  ** WARNING: Do not watch this video if you are squeamish at the sight of blood!!! ** If you are not squeamish at the sight of blood, sit back, relax and learn something n...

LEARN MORE ABOUT ME - Q&A SESSION

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome back to those who faithfully read my posts. And welcome to my blog to those who are new! Check out my other posts if you haven't yet. They're quite interesting.  T o kick off the new year, I wanted to do a Q&A post.  As I was looking through my previous blog posts, I saw that most of my posts were about medicine and college. None of them were about me! (Lol! I don't mean to sound selfish!😂) I really want my audience to know more about me. So, I hope you don't mind if I make this post a little different! ______   Here are a few common questions with my answer: Q: "What is your name?" A: My name is Kristine (with a 'K' if you didn't notice!). People tend to spell my name with a 'Ch' and its quite annoying! 😂 Q: "What grade are you in?" A: I am a sophomore in high school. Q: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" A: A doctor (duh!) That's why I made this blo...
